UTRC objectives are achieved primarily through Technical Committees that perform the following activities:

• Prepare state-of-the-art journals or papers for publication by ASCE

• Organize and conduct workshops

• Publish workshop proceedings

• Develop specifications for new technology

• Prepare industry guidance manuals

UTRC meetings are held every other year.  The two-day meetings include topical seminars and workshops, and a field trip to one or more underground construction and mining sites.  UTRC maintains a list of over 700 persons who have been active in UTRC or who have expressed an interest in UTRC's work.  An annual Chairman's Letter and Meeting Announcement are sent to everyone on the list.
